Nissan X-Trail- The Best X-TRAIL We’ve Got Yet
The Nissan X-Trail has been a staple of the mid-sized SUV world since the first iteration was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in 2000. Since then it’s been a constant process and prime example of refinement and innovation, culminating in the third-generation model, just revealed at the Shanghai Motor Show.
The new model is the boldest yet, featuring a boxier, more upright look, which gives it more interior space than ever before. Not content with that, Nissan’s gone and packed it full of incredible features.
Performance
The X-Trail has always been a standout for performance in the mid-size SUV category, and this model’s redesigned performance plant takes it even further.
● First things first, your options - the new X-Trail comes in your choice of all-wheel-drive or front-wheel drive, both of which are powered by Nissan’s Xtronic automatic continuously variable transmission standard.
● It runs on a 2.5L naturally-aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine. Power’s been boosted to 135kw, 8 more than the previous model, and torque’s been amped up to 245 nm, also 8 more than previous.
● The all-wheel-drive model uses an electro-hydraulically controlled clutch for torque transfers to the rear axle, giving you much better responsiveness than the previous model.
● For the front-wheel-drive model, you have a choice of Eco, Standard, and Sport Drive modes, and the all-wheel-drive model adds Off-Road and Snow modes.
● Brakes are four-wheel ventilated disks, for excellent stopping power.
Safety
The new generation of X-Trail leads the way in safety features too, featuring both upgrades of standard features and innovative new technology.
● A suite of active and passive safety tech as standard. Ten airbags for complete coverage, 360-degree cameras for complete awareness and easy parking/reversing.
● Forward Autonomous Emergency Braking with pedestrian detection, rear automatic emergency braking and cross-traffic alert, blind spot and lane departure warning.
● Driver alertness monitoring will ensure that you’re as switched on as your car.
● Some models feature the Nissan ProPilot system, an innovative and exciting new smart safety feature. This is a hands-on semi-autonomous braking system based on sophisticated adaptive cruise control and active lane-keeping tech which will perform small steering and braking adjustments while cruising on the open roads or in rush-hour traffic.
● The X-Trail uses the latest radar and camera technology for smooth vehicle inputs when the ProPilot system is active, plus you can link it to the native sat-nav and it’ll automatically reduce your speed for corners and on-ramps.
● On top of all that, the system’s traffic sign recognition capability can actively adjust vehicle speed to match changing speed limits.
Comfort and Convenience
Nissan knows it’s not just the grunt or the life-saving features that make a car incredible; it’s the finishing touches of comfort and convenience that take it to the pinnacle.
● Need storage space? It’s got you covered. This model’s switch to an electronic gear selector leaves you more room in the centre console for items you need to reach easily. On top of this, the boot features the new Divide-N-Hide design, a flexible storage space for your essential gear. This configurable set of dividers has six possible arrangements and can be used to secure items of various sizes, keeping them safe from prying eyes, or even as a set of shelves!
● NASA seat foam technology has been implemented for maximum comfort, ensuring the driver’s still feeling fresh and unfatigued even after long periods at the wheel.
● The large digital instrument clusters and infotainment systems are easy to read and understand even at a quick glance, as well as being fully customisable.
● The rear doors have been designed with families in mind, opening to 85 degrees wide for easy installation and removal of child seats.
● The power tailgate is motion-activated, for easy opening when you have your hands full. Even better, unlocking every door is as simple as touching any door handle when you have the smart key in your pocket.
The X-Trail has always been a frontrunner in the mid-sized SUV bracket, but the newest generation brings it to the next level. Contact Yarra Valley Nissan for more information or to book a test drive today.
